PREMISE
"Share your knowledge. It is a way to achieve immortality..."
The world of Alexandria was founded by three time travelers, all of which had seen and survived countless disasters, and all three of which had broken the path of time for results that sometimes proved a fate could not be changed for the better or revealed that disaster wasn't always imminent and a situation could be fixed.

This was 350 years ago. After centuries of work, of collecting and correcting where they could, and preferably as discretely as they could, they've created a functional library world both protecting the remnants of fallen cultures and with teams meant to go out and save theoretically damned ones. Within the past 25 years the world has developed the technology to reach into other universes as well, and often send teams of agents in for three different reasons:

Scouting: Determine whether or not a world should be saved or allowed to pass in the greater scheme of things. This could mean traveling into the distant future and seeing the consequences of its survival, seeing the state of the world socially at the time of its destruction, or traveling to the past and seeing if there's a course correction that could make it work.

Salvage: If a world truly has no choice but to pass, salvage teams can go in. They can save what animals they can, help refugee survivors build life rafts, collect artifacts and information that reflect the advancements of that culture, whether they're aesthetic or technological. They have to make sure that these worlds are returned to their native state.

Course Correction: For the worlds that can be saved, a team is sent in to either brute force or finesse the path so that the civilization can continue and lives can be saved. People with impossible strength compared to the world's current standards, capable of stopping horrific invasions, or stealthy operatives capable of sabotaging destructive forces or putting the right creative word in the correct person's ear.

Luckily this new technology has allowed plenty of displaced people to find new chances at life. Ones who have been ripped from their universes, taken to different worlds, ones that need a ride home. They'll give these people space to live on Alexandria, specifically the founding city of Rhakotis, if they work and don't use their generosity and resources as a way to accumulate power for personal conquest and in no way threaten the planet. Because the Council will have a watchful eye on everyone. (That said, once you leave Alexandria, it will probably be other course correctors that someone has to worry about if they have nefarious plans).

The Library isn't just in need of Agents, it's in need of Research and Development, of domestic workers, of security agents. And Rhakotis itself is happy to provide sanctuary to people that otherwise would have been lost to time, but has all the difficulties of a cultural melting pot. Plenty of room for a newcomer to slot themselves in to make their dreams come true.
