SETTING
THE LIBRARY OF ALEXANDRIA
Alexandria is an Earth similar world in a yellow sun's habitable zone. It has two moons, though one is considerably larger and responsible for the tides. The second is smaller and has less of an effect. The two moons are in orbits that don't cause a risk to each other.
Forests and wildlife are valued so there isn't much farmland outside of the stories. What farms do exist are usually on top of buildings within one of the cities (including the library portions). Subway bullet trains provide transportation between the library cities. Usually only nature-dependent species are allowed to settle and habitate the variety of forests around the world.
Due to the nature of Alexandria there are a number of invasive species and sometimes hunting management is necessary.
The cities are clean and with a bright futuristic finish, for the most part, with the hospitals having incredibly good treatment technology. Rarely are there bacterial or viral outbreaks that they can't handle. There are businesses and there's a price conversion system for world currencies if someone ends up leaving Alexandria and going to another world to retire. Some NPCs that can tell characters more about the setting or facilitate missions can be found here.

✦RHAKOTIS
Rhakotis was the first city founded, built around the first portion of the Collection. The culture has always been mixed. A Bohemian temporal vagabond, a man raised steeped in a warrior-poet culture, and a conniving but good-intentioned intellectual all took part in finding the first strays to found the city. Every time they managed to cross universes they came back with all kinds of refugees. People from planets about to be destroyed whether through war or disaster. Genetically engineered subjects about to be put to death. Poor ill souls deemed as burdens on society for their weaknesses. Geniuses on the run with their secrets.
These people all brought technology and architecture and cultural practices with them. They brought age-old grievances and methods of courtship and their own different styles of commerce. As the city grew, the library grew as well. And while there are now other cities on the planet, Rhakotis still remains the largest.
There are steep skyscrapers and varying technologies. Some people will only use variants of what came from their worlds, some people will use a little bit of everything. There are many different styles of buildings, some of them tall, some of them covered by those broad farms. There shouldn't be too much trouble finding a much-coveted item or foodstuff.
Aside from the more technological sections of the city, there are districts primarily managed by the magically inclined. Streetlamps are maintained by magical spells and while various translation technology will work in most parts of the city, strictly electronic devices might not work on some magical text as some universes have technology-resistant aether. So you end up with a lot of magical attention/caution signs written in many languages. For more on this, here's some district info.
The educational system has high standards, and teachers are expected to be forthright about historical examples and clarify the long term effects in each universe and timeline they belonged to. Later education also gives students the opportuntiy to persue magical, religious, or technological electives along with the usual standards. They must be "verified" though, as methods that actually work in their universe of origin and not baseless.
There is a small bay connected to a much larger ocean (the Viviane), and fishing is permitted with heavy restrictions, some to prevent overfishing, some for health standards or to avoid poisonous fish, some for the cautionary zones that are filled with Krakenlike cephalopods of various fashions of large and aggressive. There's good money in providing protection for fishing boats. For the most part, the contents of the ocean are very earthlike save for a notable absence of whales, but they compensate for that in incredibly large tuna, sharks, and eels.
The city has a static "temperate" environment with farming areas having controlled "seasons". Though there are businesses that provide artificially rendered environments if someone wants to go on a magical ski adventure or sun themselves on a hot beach, and many of them are affordable because competition in an industry catering to displaced people feeling homesick is fierce. Time is usually set to Earth standard but you may run into people using the clocks of their own worlds.

❤HOW TO FIND EACH OTHER
There's no magical starting location like a resort or hotel or room assignments. Its up to PCs to find (or to forever never find) each other within the city. But if there's some difficulty in doing so, here are some ideas where people can be sought out or happened across.
SOCIAL MEDIA
There is an infonet that works a lot like Earth's internet, and there is social media. There are some accounts similar to Earth's as well. Among the most popular (but by no means restricted to these).
RANDOM HUBS
If you want your character to happen across someone physically, there's a few places that are popularly known to be exceptionally friendly towards newcomers or have the most resources for new people. They're good places to happen across someone you know. You can also start your own business here.

- BookWorm
- A text blogging site, ranging from self-help articles to long angry rants about fictional media.
- Yo Ho
- A search engine with a strong answer-seeking community called Yo Ho Ask. It's one of the companies that offers free emails with a lot of space.
- Visage
- Something between tiktok and instagram. People tend to make really comedic videos, short instructionals, or influencer-like commentary. Want an actual magical girl unironically pulling off Caramelldansen or a super intense nun being comedically dramatic on purpose? Some long apology for being ignorant of android issues? This is the place for that.
- Videodrone
- Essentially like Youtube. People make videos and put them up. Some of them are even compilations of Visage videos, or streams of events, or clips from popular planetary media.

- Over Easy
- A diner founded by a war vet from a horror setting a good twenty odd years ago. They made it a policy that people that come from restrictive jam-jars get a 50% discount on Fridays and a 50% for temporally displaced people on Saturdays. There's also a digital map of the city on the wall and there are staff that will give quick instructions to locations that will best suit their needs.
It's an easy location for people that are new to find help, and people that have been around for a while to get a cheap hot meal and understanding company. They offer a lot of fusion foods from different universes, too. Offers the best T-Bone Calamari in the city, or a good solid Bantha burger, or a Nuka Cola float. - Dabo World
- A casino originally founded by a Ferengi forty years ago, but it's changed hands several times and run through many owners, all of which have added a few elements of their own worlds. There's a variety of games, ranging from the basic to things like dabo, quasar, wicked grace, caravan, and others picked up from a variety of worlds so long as they're way to make money. It's notably gaudy with scantily clad servers and dealers, often ones considered 'sexy' in an incredibly well-groomed way according to the standards of their world (so long as it's hygienic).
Some servers do have 'side jobs', and usually aren't offended if you express an interest in hiring them for more personal entertainment.
The casino uses chips but will cash out to the currency of choice. It's often a good secondary way to transfer currency from one type to another without going through official channels. - Farmer's Market
- Locally sourced materials are cheaper than imports, so the weekend farmer's market is a big deal. You'll find all kinds of people and items there. Booths include:
- Fresh fruit and vegetables
- Home canned items with recyclable jars
- Fresh fish from the bay
- Various meats, both hunted and lab cultivated, fresh or preserved
- Handcrafted clothing and jewelry
- Homemade beauty care products
- Flea market salvage recovered from world missions with 'common' items
The farmer's market happens every weekend from Friday to Sunday and lasts from morning to late afternoon.
✔IMPORTANT TERMS
- TRUNK
- A primary starting timeline.
- GRAFTING
- Building a new timeline from a chosen and solid deviation point.
- PRUNING
- Going in and salvaging materials (technology, artifacts, relics, general valuable information) from worlds that have ended.
- TIME MACHINE
- Can be a ship, a worn item, or a specially embued mode of transportation. Time Machines are difficult to destroy, but can encounter minor technical difficulties.
🙗AVAILABLE RACES
There's a good number of races present, since the world was even founded as a post-RP destination and has been accepting refugees from outside worlds regularly for some time. This is also a universe with specialized genetic engineering isn't uncommon, with enhancements made to help people better stand up to extreme conditions. So there are even variations between human species. Due to the forced isolation of Alexandria, though, they've avoided some of the prejudices associated with that.
